Gemma Raeburn-Baynes, a 1997 YWCA Woman of Distinction Award recipient, is a community enricher and advocate for women's progress. As a McGill University graduate, she's an inspiring role model and founder of Playmas Montreal Cultural Association. Gemma's accolades include the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. She initiated Gem*s Tea, Gem*Star Scholarship Fundraise, and co-founded the Spice Island Cultural Day Association. With 35+ years at BMO Bank of Montreal, she's a retired Senior Auditor who remains devoted to community, business, and charity.

Akil is a 2008 graduate of Princeton University, where he majored in Politics, and a 2013 graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, where his major area of study was constitutional law. Akil later worked in nonprofit civil liberties advocacy in Washington, D.C. and in television and radio journalism since returning to Montreal 6 years ago. Akil is now proud to administer the GemStar Circle of Excellence Program, paying forward the kind of support he received as a youth in Montreal's Black community.

Adrienne was born in Philadelphia, graduated from Georgetown University and began her career in Lebanon. Later, travelling to a UN posting in New York, she stopped off in Paris . . .  and stayed eight years before coming to Montreal in 1974. It was in Paris that Adrienne launched her technical translation business, from which she recently retired after some 45 years. Throughout that time, Adrienne pursued church and community activities, including 12 years with the Coloured Women's Club and 30 years with Miss Black Quebec Pageant and then Playmas Montreal Cultural Association for which she is now Communications Director.  She also devotes herself full-time to church, the Isaiah 40 Foundation and family, including the champ, grandson Romeo. Through all of life, good and bad, the joy has remained.

Latoya Belfon is a remarkable individual known for her diverse talents and unwavering commitment to empowering others. As a three-time best-selling author in children's books and goal-setting guides, she also serves as the CEO of Labworks Publishing, showcasing her leadership and entrepreneurial skills. A McGill University graduate, Latoya's academic achievements reflect her dedication to personal growth and education. She is a Goal Success Expert, Innovative Educator, and dynamic Motivational Speaker, inspiring others to unlock their potential. With an impressive portfolio of over 15 self-published books, she has also collaborated with numerous authors as a publisher, nurturing talent and promoting diverse voices. Latoya's remarkable achievements have earned her recognition, including her inclusion in Canada's Top 100 Black Women to Watch in 2023 and the Woman of Merit award from the Playmas Cultural Association, highlighting her significant contributions to her community and beyond.
